Read this to learn how the Competitor Report works, where to find it in the Supplier Portal, and how to use its insights to improve your product’s performance over time.
What is the Competitor Report?
The Competitor Report compares one of your activities with up to six similar activities on GetYourGuide. It reviews six areas — photos, reviews, content, options, inclusions, and suitability — and explains:
- Where your listing is performing strongly
- Where competitors may have an advantage
- What you could change about your product to close any gaps
Note: Recommendations are for guidance only.
Where to find the Competitor Report
To access the report in the Supplier Portal:
- Go to the Performance section
- Choose the product you want to compare and open that product’s performance page
- Go to the Competitor report tab and select the Create report button
If you don’t see this tab, your activity is not currently eligible. We’re testing it with a limited set of activities to begin with, to collect feedback and make improvements before rolling it out more widely. The report is only available in English for now.
What the report includes
The report first shows the other activities your one was compared against. It then provides a summary that gives a short overview of your position compared to your competitor set and calls out what matters most. It then goes into detail about 6 different areas:
Photos: Number of photos and their quality, and how well they represent the experience
Reviews: Number of reviews, average rating, and what reviewers mention
Content: Clarity, detail, and consistency of the content, and how well it explains the experience
Options: Variety of booking options and how clearly each option is described
Inclusions: What’s included and excluded, and how clearly this is communicated
Suitability: Duration and how clearly you communicate who the activity is best for
For each area, you’ll see a one-line explanation, which you can expand to see more detail.
Note: If a statement or recommendation surprises you, you can check it against the competitor’s live listing before making any changes.
How competitors are selected
An AI model trained on GetYourGuide’s own data matches your activity against others on our marketplace and scores similarity. The strongest matches become your competitor set (3-6 activities).
The matching considers:
- Location — activities operating in the same place
- Category — experience type (for example, walking tour, day trip, or food tour)
- Experience similarity — what the customers sees/does, where they go, what’s included
- Revenue — to compare activities performing similarly
- Conversion rate — how effectively a listing converts views into bookings
- Review count — number of collected ratings and comments
The goal is to show activities a customer would likely be comparing while browsing GetYourGuide and deciding which one to book.
Similarity is based on listing content and marketplace behavior, so the match may not always reflect your local market knowledge. If a competitor looks wrong, select the thumbs down icon (below). This feedback will later be used to improve the model that matches your competitors.
Frequency and accuracy
You can generate a new report once every 30 days. The report uses live content and information at the time you create it.
Please remember that this is an AI-generated comparison. As with all AI tools, it can sometimes misread information or draw conclusions that aren’t fully accurate. If a statement looks incorrect, select the thumbs down icon to flag it to us.
The analysis runs when you request it, rather than being prepared in advance. If it fails, please try again after a short wait.
Frequently asked questions
Does the competitor report cost anything?
No, it’s included in your GetYourGuide partnership at no cost to you.
Can I choose or change my competitors?
No, the competitor set is created automatically using an AI model trained on GetYourGuide’s own data. See the ‘How competitors are selected’ section for more details.
Do I have to follow the recommendations?
No, they are suggestions only and based on our findings that lots of good photos and reviews, together with clear and detailed content and suitability information generally increase conversion and customer satisfaction over time. Use the report as a research shortcut and combine it with your own local knowledge and expertise.
Is my own performance data shared with competitors?
No, the Competitor Report does not show any performance data like revenue, bookings, or conversion rate to another activity provider. It only shows information already visible to the public on the activity listing, such as photos, content, reviews, and options.
