Read this to learn how to define precise pickup areas using custom geoshapes and exclusion zones, so you can accurately represent where you offer pickups and prevent booking errors.
What are Pickup Geoshapes and Exclusion Zones?
- Pickup Geoshapes let you draw custom pickup areas that match your actual service zone, instead of using a restrictive rectangular box.
- Exclusion Zones let you mark specific areas within your service zone where pickups are not available (e.g., pedestrian-only streets, restricted zones, or areas with parking limitations).
Why use them?
Previously, rectangular boxes often included locations you couldn't actually service. Geoshapes and Exclusion Zones allow you to accurately show customers exactly where you offer pickups, which reduces cancellations and stops you from having to create multiple "tiny" pickup zones as a workaround.
When should I use this feature?
Use Pickup Geoshapes if your pickup area doesn't fit neatly into a rectangle. Common examples include:
- City tours: Define zones that follow specific neighborhoods while excluding pedestrian-only areas.
- Resort services: Create separate shapes for each resort cluster while excluding the areas in between.
- Coastal activities: Draw pickup areas along coastal roads while excluding beach access points or restricted parking zones.
