Create an External Product ID with the Product Mapping Tool
What is the Product Mapping Tool? (short)
The Product Mapping Tool is a self-service feature in the Supplier Portal that lets connected suppliers configure how their GetYourGuide products map to their outbound connector integration—directly in the portal, without relying on spreadsheets or Support.
Before you start (checklist)
- You use an outbound connector integration (required)
- You have the correct product identifiers from your reservation system
- If your connector is multi-client, you know which client/tenant to select
Configure the option in the Supplier Portal
Tip: Watch video 1 first. Then complete video 2 to finish setup.
Step-by-step: Map and connect your option
Step 1 - Create/select your External Product ID
Use the Product Mapping Tool to create or select the External Product ID that links your GetYourGuide option to the correct product in your reservation system.
Step 2 - Link your product in GetYourGuide (same as existing flow)
- Go to Manage → Products in the Supplier Portal
- Select See details → Edit option for the option you want to connect
- Open Connectivity settings
- Under “Do you use an online reservation system?”, select Yes
- Select your reservation system from the dropdown
Step 3 - Add the External Product ID
- Select your External Product ID from the dropdown (if available) or enter it manually.
- Ensure there are no extra spaces in the ID.
Step 4 - Complete option configuration (required to go live)
After connectivity settings, complete:
Step 5 - Validation and go-live
Validation runs automatically after configuration.
- If validation succeeds, your option can go live.
- If validation fails, contact your reservation system provider to resolve the issue.
Troubleshooting (short, high-impact)
- No availability / no price: Confirm your reservation system is sending availability and price via API.
- Reserve/book errors: email supplier-api@getyourguide.com and include the GYG option ID and time of the failed attempt.
