Verification: How to Prepare and Complete Verification

Follow our step-by-step guide to prepare and complete supplier verification. Get clear instructions for the documents you need based on your business type.

1. Before you begin: Check your business type

When you first registered on GetYourGuide, you chose a business type. This must be correct or verification will likely fail.

You’re likely a Registered Company if: your business is officially registered as a separate legal entity (for example: GmbH, LLC, Ltd., Corp.), with its own registration number in a government business registry (e.g., Handelsregister in Germany, Companies House in the UK) and files taxes separately from you.

You’re likely an Individual Trader if: you run your business under your own name (sole trader, freelancer, self‑employed) and your business income is part of your personal taxes.

Quick test: Can you find your business in your country’s official company registry with a unique registration number? Yes = Registered Company. No = Individual Trader.

Important: A tax number or VAT number alone does not make you a Registered Company. If you are unsure, it is safer to select Individual Trader or contact the business owner or accountant before choosing.

Already registered with the wrong business type? You can't change this during verification. Please contact our Supplier Support team before you continue.

2. Gather your documents

Having everything ready helps you finish in one go and reduces errors and timeouts.

A) For Registered Companies, prepare:

  1. Valid government-issued photo ID for the person completing verification (passport, national ID card, or other accepted document shown in the flow)
  2. Legal company name as it appears in the official business registry, character by character (including “Ltd”, “GmbH”, “S.L.”, punctuation, and accents)
  3. Company registration number from the business registry (not your tax ID or VAT number – see “Verification: How to Find Your Company Registration Number”)
  4. Registered business address as listed in official documents or the registry.
  5. Country of registration
  6. Managing director’s name
  7. Contact phone number and email
  8. Phone or laptop with a working camera and good lighting for the selfie step

B) For Individual Traders, prepare:

  1. Valid government-issued photo ID (passport recommended)
  2. Full legal name (first and last name) exactly as on your ID
  3. Business or personal address
  4. Professional registration number (optional)
  5. Contact phone number and email
  6. Phone or laptop with a working camera and good lighting for the selfie step

Pro tips to pass on the first try:

  • Use your passport if you have one, and make sure it is not expired.
  • Take a photo of the physical ID card – do not use screenshots or printed copies
  • Look up your company in the official registry and copy the legal name and registration number directly to avoid typos.
  • Start verification only when you have time to complete all steps in one session.

3. Start verification from the Supplier Portal

To begin verification:

  1. Log in to to the Supplier Portal
  2. Go to Company profile
  3. Click “Verify now” (top right)
  4. Click “Begin verifying”

What happens next depends on your business type.

4. Complete the verification screens

Now you need to enter details about your identity and company, based on your business type.

A) Registered companies

  1. Company details: Enter your legal company name (exactly as in the official registry), business registration number from the government business registry and add the managing director’s first and last name.
  2. Business address: Use the registered business address from the registry, even if your operating/office address is elsewhere. Start typing to use autocomplete or enter it manually.
  3. Contact information: Enter a customer contact phone number (for questions about products and bookings), contact email (for customer questions) and emergency phone number (kept internal, not shown to customers).
Note: No country prefix needed (e.g. “+49).
  4. Business check: Your details are matched against official registries. If there’s no match, you’ll be asked to correct your entries.
  5. Identity check (ID): select the country that issued the ID of the person completing verification, upload a valid ID as prompted in the flow.
Allow camera access or choose “Continue on another device” to scan a QR code or receive a secure link by email. Place your ID on a flat, dark surface, avoid backlight and glare, and make sure all four corners are visible in the frame.
  6. Identity check (selfie): Follow the on-screen prompts to take a selfie, keep your face centered, remove sunglasses or hats, and use neutral lighting. Turn your head when asked. Make sure you’re alone in the frame (no one in the background).

B) Individual traders:

  1. Personal details: Enter your full legal name exactly as on your ID. Add your professional registration number or license number if you have one.
  2. Business address: Enter your street address, postal code, city, and region or province if requested.
  3. Contact information: Enter a customer contact phone number (shown to customers for questions about products and bookings), contact email (shown to customers for questions), emergency phone number (not shown to customers). Note: No need to add a country prefix (e.g. “+49) – it is preselected.
  4. Identity check (ID): Choose the country that issued your ID, then upload your ID (passport recommended; some countries also support national ID or driver’s license).
Allow camera access or choose “Continue on another device” to scan a QR code or receive a secure link by email. Place your ID on a flat, dark surface, avoid backlight and glare, and make sure all four corners are visible in the frame.

5. Identity check (selfie): Follow the on-screen prompts to take a selfie, keep your face centered, remove sunglasses or hats, and use neutral lighting. Turn your head when asked. Make sure you’re alone in the frame (no one in the background).
