How to complete credential verification with Evident

Read this to learn what credential verification is, what documents you will need to provide, and how the process works with Evident, our third-party platform.

Overview

As part of GetYourGuide’s mission to offer the best and most trusted experiences, we are introducing a pilot to test credential verification for select supply partners. This verification confirms you hold the necessary insurance policies, licenses or permits needed to operate activities in your location.

This is separate from the identity and business verification you completed when you registered on GetYourGuide. Credential verification confirms your activities are properly insured and licensed, and our customers are covered in case of an accident.

Note: We’re rolling this pilot out in phases starting September 2026. It will affect a select group of supply partners in limited markets. If you’re involved, GetYourGuide and Evident will contact you directly.

Why we’re introducing credential verification

Travelers trust marketplaces like GetYourGuide because they expect our operators to meet a high bar, including putting trust and safety as a priority. Verifying credentials through documentation, instead of relying only on self-reported information, helps:

What Evident is and how it works

Evident is a third-party credential verification platform that collects and verifies business documentation, such as insurance certificates and licenses, on our behalf.

Here’s the process:

You receive an email from Evident with instructions and a deadline.
You submit your documents directly to them. This usually takes just a few minutes.
Evident verifies your documents and confirms the result back to GetYourGuide.
You receive a confirmation once everything has been checked and approved.

What you’ll need to provide

Evident will show the exact list of documents you’ll need to upload. Requirements vary by activity type and location, but typically include:

Proof of valid general liability insurance
Proof of valid liability insurance covering the specific activity type
Any licenses or permits legally required to operate that activity

Tip: Before you submit, check that your documents are valid, including the coverage dates, business name, and activity coverage, to avoid delays.

If verification is incomplete

Credential verification is becoming a required step for selling activities on GetYourGuide. If you don’t complete it within the given timeframe, your affected activities may be taken offline until verification is complete. We’ll send you regular reminders in case you miss the first email.

If you submit documents but they do not meet the requirements, you will receive a follow-up email explaining what to do.

If your insurance or license or permits are expired, or you don’t have them yet, your activity will be deactivated shortly after the deadline, unless you can submit proof that an application or renewal is in progress.

How is this different from the verification I already completed when I registered?

Persona verification confirms your identity and business details. Evident verification confirms the insurance and licensing credentials for your activities.

Can I appeal the decision to be taken offline?

Yes, you can appeal via the Contact Form, using the reason “my activity or account was rejected or deactivated”.

Where can I get help?
