The format of an EIN is XXXXXXXXX, where X represents a digit ranging from 0 to 9. For example, an EIN could look like 123456789. You may not have an EIN, for example, if your business is not incorporated. In this case, please provide one of the following:

Social Security Number (SSN) is a nine-digit number issued to individuals by the Social Security Administration (SSA). It is primarily used for individual tax purposes, such as filing personal income tax returns and reporting wages to the IRS. The format of an SSN is 123456789.

Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is a nine-digit number that begins with a “9”, issued by the IRS to individuals who are required to have a U.S. taxpayer identification number but are not eligible for an SSN. A- Sales tax ID number

A sales tax ID (commonly referred to as the Sales and Use Tax Permit or Seller's Permit) is a number provided by the state tax authority upon registering to collect taxes in-state (as opposed to EIN/SSN/ITIN which are issued at the federal level).

The format of sales tax ID numbers vary by state, and in a small number of states the sales tax ID issued by the state authorities will be the same as your federal EIN.

Examples of Sales tax ID numbers, by state, can be found here.
